Julia Coffey is the co-owner and director of operations at Seeds Trust, High Altitude Gardens, a local seed company dedicated to providing high quality, regionally-adapted seed and combating disappearing biodiversity by teaching customers to save seeds. Julia joined Early Morning Orchard as a part of the Farm Crew in 2022 and now is the Seed-to-Seed Internship Director.  Julia is from Denver, CO and earned her double degree in Linguistics and French from CU Boulder. After teaching English in France, Julia returned home with a newfound passion for alternative agriculture and finding ways to improve our deeply broken food system. In 2010, she met renowned seedsman Bill McDorman, the founder of Seeds Trust, and moved to Cornville AZ to apprentice with him and learn as much as she could about the world of seeds. She bought Seeds Trust from Bill when he moved on to larger projects and brought the company back to Colorado to continue the important work of growing and spreading regionally-adapted, open-pollinated seed.  Along with the daily operations of Seeds Trust, Julia is dedicated to investing in the agricultural longevity of the Grand Valley by working with small farmers to develop seed saving programs and create a more resilient seed network in an increasingly challenging growing environment.
